Volunteering opportunities in December

The season of giving is fast approaching so why not give a little of your time to volunteer for New Hope in December 2026?

Join us at Sing for Hope

This Christmas, we’re bringing festive music and community spirit to The Harlequin shopping centre with Sing for Hope.

We’re looking for singers, musicians and performers to fill half-hour slots with festive songs and Christmas favourites between 4pm and 9pm on Thursday, December 17.

You don’t have to be a performer to get involved! We also need volunteers to rattle the collection buckets and help spread some Christmas cheer throughout the evening.

Whether you’re a solo singer, part of a choir, a musician, or simply someone who wants to give something back this Christmas, we’d love you to join us at Sing for Hope.

That’s a Christmas wrap

If you’re a little more adept with your digits than you are with your dulcet tones, why not put your hand up for our fundraising Christmas present wrapping in the shopping centre the following day.

Between 9am and 8pm the New Hope wrapping station will be located between the TAG Heuer and Body Shop outlets on the upper. floor. Everything needed – paper, Sellotape, scissors, labels, ribbons and bows – will be provided. You just need to bring along a smile and a cheery tone!

There will be collection buckets and a card reader for donations, and Santa hats to wear. Feel free to add Christmas jumpers or any other festive clothing you have!

Walk yourself into shape and do some good at the same time

We will also be looking for door drop volunteers to deliver fundraising flyers to help boost our Christmas appeal.

You can deliver as many or as few flyers as you would like, stick to just your street and immediate neighbours or cover the entire neighbourhood. You decide!

Helping get our message out there will increase the amount of money we raise and the good work we can do to improve the lives of people currently experiencing homelessness and others who may do so in the future.

Delivering flyers for us is an easy but effective way of doing some good in your community.

Volunteer models needed

At New Hope, we love to tell the stories of the people we have helped but in order to protect identities, we don't use people's real photos or names.

We are looking for some volunteer models to help us with forthcoming communications, including our Christmas appeal. We especially need a man aged between 50 and 60 and a man in his mid-40s as well as a woman (over 18 and under 70!)! You don't have to look like Brad Pitt, George Clooney or Kate Moss!

The reward is fleeting fame, a feel-good feeling, and a box of chocolates. Previous volunteers have found it a poignant and rewarding experience.
