Parliamentary Visit to New Hope Services
At the end of August, we had the opportunity to welcome Eddie Hughes, Minister for Rough Sleeping. Dean Russell, MP for Watrford, and Aga Dychton, Watford’s Deputy Mayor to New Hope. They visited the Haven and the Sanctuary and were able to get an opportunity to see for themselves the vital hard work that staff and volunteers do to tackle rough sleeping and support those experiencing homelessness in our town.
Rob Edmonds, acting CEO, said “we were so grateful for the opportunity to showcase the fantastic work that our staff and volunteer team does, often working tirelessly behind the scenes - the fact that we never give up. It was great to be able to show what has, and continues to be achieved.”
Dean Russell, MP for Watford, said “ensuring that everyone has a roof over their head is crucial, and the Government is committed to ending rough sleeping once and for all during this Parliament. An additional £2 billion has been committed over the next three years to tackle rough sleeping and being able to show the exemplary work taking place in Watford means this work can be replicated nationally.”
