Santa's Sleigh raises over £2,000 for New Hope!
New Hope has been given an incredible donation of £2,751 from the local community, collected by Rickmansworth and Chorleywood Scouts during December with the help of Santa and his sleigh!
This tradition was started by the Rotary Club over 30 years ago, when they started escorting Santa around the streets of Rickmansworth, Chorleywood and Croxley Green, and they have now passed on the baton to the local Scouts. Half the money raised was given to New Hope and half is used to fund adventures for children through the local Scout movement.
Quentin Webb, Bograts Explorer Leader, said: “We were delighted to take on the honour of assisting Santa on his rounds and would like to thank the residents of Rickmansworth, Chorleywood and Croxley Green for giving so generously to this great cause. Santa enjoyed seeing all the children and hopes the whole community had a great Christmas.”
Rebecca Palmer, Fundraising and Communications Manager of New Hope, said: “We are still very much a local charity dependent on the community for volunteers and financial support. This donation will make a genuine difference to vulnerable people through the winter months and we add our thanks to Santa, his team and most importantly, the local residents for their generosity.”
