Go Go Go, Gurneys!

We'd like to say a BIG thank you and well done to the Gurney family of Bushey who (between them) ran a half marathon!

Paul, Ekta, Kyan, Rian and Rohan ran the distance in the area around their home (including up a very steep hill) cheered on by their neighbours, friends and family on 10 May.

Rian (aged seven) had wanted to raise money for New Hope by earning £1 for every goal he scored playing football matches on Sundays. He scored 26 goals and was hoping to double that by the end of the season. But when the season ended early due to lockdown, Rian thought about what he could do instead to raise £60.

His family stepped in to help him and so between them they ran a half-marathon (or 21km): Paul and Ekta both ran 5km as did Ky (aged 12), Rian ran 4km and Rohan (aged 6) ran 2km.

They smashed Rian’s target of £60 by raising a phenomenal £612!

Have a watch of their fantastic, uplifting video here!
