Watford Winter Shelter To Open
Rebecca Palmer, Fundraising and Communications Manager, writes:
I hate getting out of bed in the winter.
'Just five more minutes...' I say to myself as I yearn for the brightness and warmth of the spring and summer months.
But the winter mornings aren't that bad really - I have a comfortable bed, central heating, and a fridge full of food. I give thanks for my home and I don't take it for granted.
Many people in Watford at the moment have no bed, no heating, no kitchen and no bathroom.
There is no place to call home.
This is why New Hope is running the Watford Winter Shelter from 1 December until 31 March 2020. The shelter will be at One YMCA and will be once again funded by Watford Borough Council.
Last year, we were able to help 105 individuals through this simple but life-saving provision of some food, hot drinks and a bed.
This morning when I woke up and didn't want to get out of bed, I took a moment to be thankful for all I have.
