Emergency Beds for Freezing Temperatures

As Watford begins to see temperatures fall, the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) is coming into effect. SWEP is a humanitarian response to provide shelter during severe weather for people who are rough sleeping in the Watford and Three Rivers area. As unusually severe weather begins to arrive, additional emergency beds are being provided.

There are nine additional emergency beds available which are operated by New Hope and are funded by both Watford Borough Council and Three Rivers District Council. The beds are located at Haven Support Centre, where staff will organise camp beds and hot drinks. The Haven is located at 4 Whippendell Road, Watford and places are allocated on a first come first served basis by contacting the Rough Sleeping Prevention Service at the Haven between 8:30am and 1pm, 1:45 to 3:30pm. SWEP will be in effect from the 8th December as temperatures fall below zero and severe weather warnings have been issued. This is the first occasion SWEP has been activated this winter.
