Golfers Fund Christmas!
Last year you may remember that Christmas was paid for by the Waitrose’s Isolation Campaign.
Well, this year, the West Watford Golfing Society have generously offered to donate £1,000 to fund Christmas at New Hope!
On 2nd December, the golfing society presented us with the cheque outside our Haven Support Centre.
Each Christmas, we provide several Christmas meals across our services to make the day as festive as possible for over 100 people who would otherwise face a very bleak Christmas with no home, no food and no family. This year, thanks to the generosity of the West Watford Golfing Society, we will be able to really push the boat out and give over 100 people who are homeless or vulnerably-housed an extra special Christmas.
Ian Borlase, Treasurer of the West Watford Golfing Society, said, ‘For the last 25 years or so our focus has been increasingly based on helping good causes. We try to focus on local charities and organisations but we have also supported more national organisations as well.’
Jim Quinn, Captain of the society, added, ‘We’re delighted to be able to help New Hope and provide a little bit of Christmas cheer for people who are less fortunate than us.’
Rebecca Palmer, Fundraising and Communications Manager at New Hope said, ‘We’re so grateful to the West Watford Golfing Society for this generous and timely donation. Christmas is such a hard time for the people we work with, and it’s wonderful to be able to give them the sort of Christmas many of us take for granted.’
All of us at New Hope would like to say a huge thank you to the West Watford Golfing Society! We hope you will have a very happy Christmas!
