Love Never Fails
As you may know, our theme for 2019 was Love Never Fails. The manager of the Community Home has written this wonderful reflection based on St Paul’s words from 1 Corinthians 13.
Love is patient – As a team we give the residents time and space to recover from trauma. We work with the residents where they are.
Love is kind – The Community Home prides itself on its family environment ensuring all residents are loved and cared for.
Love does not envy – We believe that staff and service users are equal and we are all God’s children.
Love does not boast – Every day staff go beyond their job description to ensure residents have the best care possible without wanting recognition.
Love is not proud – We invite the residents into the running of the service. Our culture is for the residents to have ownership. They write the prayers for the prayer diary and are involved in the interview process for prospective residents.
Love does not dishonour others – We treat everyone who comes to the home with respect. We honour everyone’s feelings.
Love is not self-seeking – We work with people to realise their own strengths and celebrate them.
Love is not easily angered – We understand that life can be stressful but our ethos is around learning to express your feelings with acceptance.
Love keeps no record of wrongs – This year we have taken two people back after previous stays.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth – We are honest, open and transparent with our residents.
Love always protects – The Community Home is a safe environment.
Love always trusts – The Community Home is an honest programme and we believe in transparency from staff and service users.
Love always hopes – We have hopes and dreams for all our staff, residents and volunteers. We believe that the world is our oyster!
Love always perseveres – The heart of everything we do. We never give up.
