Outreach Plus Volunteer


Hours: at least 2 hours during one of the following time slots: Monday 4pm-12 midnight, Tuesday 2pm - 10pm, Wednesday 9am - 5pm, Thursday 6am - 2pm, Friday 6am - 2pm

Frequency: At least twice per month

Location: The Sanctuary Emergency Accommodation, Central Watford

New Hope’s Outreach Plus service aims to tackle homelessness on the streets by locating and engaging people who are currently rough sleeping.

We are looking for volunteers to support Outreach Plus staff visiting rough sleepers in Watford.

The role involves accompanying members of staff on street outreach to identify and engage with people who are rough sleeping in the Watford area. Additional duties include engaging with those staying in our Emergency Accommodation centre and assisting with housekeeping.

Volunteers must be at 18 years or older; be reliable and punctual; be able to follow instructions and work within set guidelines; have the ability to make people feel comfortable; be able to walk for 2-3 hours at a time and have good awareness of boundaries. Online training will be provided for the role.

Volunteers must be aged 18 years or over, be able to commit to a regular schedule of volunteering, be able to follow instructions and work within a set of guidelines. Befrienders must adhere to confidentiality rules at all times; respect the dignity and privacy of service users and liaise with staff to share relevant information. Online training for the role will be provided.
